Student Testimonials

Over the years, I've taught a lot of students and helped them prepare and succeed in their careers. I love to hear from past students and how what was learned is really making an impact. Below are some unsolicited emails and messages from past students:

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. March 29, 2018.

This was the first course in which I truly felt like I was in grad school. This instructor treated us like grad students by letting us use class meeting times for group discussion and debate but always used the time to also add value by explaining extra things that are not included, or that have changed, from what's in our book. I really appreciated the extra information he provided and the topics we discussed as a group.

Professor Holloway is an excellent instructor. He's extremely knowledgeable and ensures everyone in the class understands what he's talking about. He's always asking for questions and answering quickly and thoroughly. He's personable during meet sessions. He gives great feedback on assignments.

The best instructor I have ever had. He made class meets a very engaging experience and very educational with a very enthusiastic attitude which kept me focused. I really enjoyed the discussion and topic choices during the meet sessions. I also like how he kept everyone on task and went above and beyond in sharing best practices within the marketing field from his own organization.

Shaun was excellent in emphasizing the need for critical analysis in developing marketing strategy. More so than other instructors, he consistently conveyed the need to apply knowledge to actions and elaborate on our answers past simply a 'yes' or 'no.' Coursework was extremely applicable to the real world. I enjoyed Shaun and would recommend him to other students.

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. November 8, 2016.

Your class truly pushed my critical thinking and writing skills. This is the first class I have taken where I felt I learned a great deal of information. Thanks for a great class!

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. November 5, 2016.

Also, I wanted to extend a huge thank-you for being such a great adjunct faculty member.... You always responded quickly to my emails and provided helpful, thoughtful responses that helped me learn. Your meet sessions and discussions on Facebook were much more engaging and enjoyable than any of the others I've been a part of in this program so far. Your expertise really showed and you taught me (and the rest of the class) a lot of great information that we'll use for years to come in our careers. I'll definitely miss this class. So, thank you!!

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. August 8, 2016.

I learned so much in this class. I have a new boss who is strong in analytics, and he forgets that we had minimal exposure previously and speaks in all the acronyms and analytic-speak. I feel much more confident and can say I understand what he's talking about now.

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. March 22, 2016.

Shaun did a nice job of treating the course as a graduate level course. I felt like my writing ability was really tested and challenged. He was also passionate about particular topics in the digital marketing course. He tried to involve the entire class in discussions.

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. March 22, 2016.

Challenged us to think out of the box. Shaun really helped me further my learning in digital marketing. I already had experience in the field, so it was interesting to connect my past with new ideas and technology. The class was always really engaging.

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. November 10, 2015.

He was fantastic. He didn't coddle or baby people along at all. His feedback was blunt but constructive. It was refreshing to have access to him via Facebook.

Mr. Holloway has been the best professor I have had at Franklin. He is very knowledgeable about marketing and technology and really stretched me in terms of my thinking. His class was tough, but worth it. I would definitely take another one of his classes in the future.

Digital Marketing Strategy, MCM711. August 7, 2015.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this class. While it was tough at times, I can honestly say I learned more in your class than any other course I have taken at Franklin. Best wishes, Kevin

As a member of The Sales Centre and a degree in Marketing, there were times throughout college that I had doubts about my major and thought about going into something different. Your course, however, was the assurance I needed and the final decision to stick with my major because of how much I enjoyed the presentation style atmosphere as well as the marketing and sales aspect of it.

To fill you in on myself, after college I took a position with Wells Fargo Financial in the financial sales field in July 2009. By reviewing my notes from your course and remembering things I had learned during presentations, I was one of the top employees there and actually led the branch in total volume. Best, Corey

Hope all is well today! I was a student of yours at OU about 7 years ago. I took your sales class and I wanted to let you know that your class helps me to this day with my career! When I am about to call on a customer or go into a meeting with a customer, I think of the basics and the detailed information I learned in your class. Main thing was BE PREPARED and be yourself. Warm regards, Renee

I just wanted to write to you and say how much I enjoyed your class, I was able to talk about some of the experiences in my interview for IGS energy. I just got hired for the Industrial Sales Rep. position. Thank you so much, Hannah

I wanted to thank you for teaching the best Marketing class I have taken at college. Sincerely appreciate what you do for students and look forward to staying in contact.

I am writing you this email to let you know that your class has been by far the most beneficial to me in college. This summer I was able to put my sales skills to work for a local development company.

I had a great time and was complimented for my sales personality. Your 3580 class is great, and I have recommended it to many of my colleagues. I will never forget your reaction to our used appliance presentation, it was a great time! Cordially, Matt

I was just writing to let you know that I am up in cleveland working as a sales / marketing intern with State Farm Insurance and...... I SPINNED SOMEONE!!!! HAHA It was a Holy crap moment after I was done also.

I did not even realize I had did it till after I was done and made the sell and I had to write you because you said sometime the light would go on with the technique and it did. So if your still teaching 3580 keep up the SPIN stuff and make sure your students learn it because it really does work. Thanks, Justin

Business-to-Business Marketing, MKT4250, May 24, 2007

I think that the [simulation] project was fun and engaging which is something that has been unique in my quarter thus far. I think the exercise is definitely worthwhile and fun at the same time. Offering incentives definitely was a motivating factor to our success. Thanks! Andrew

I just wanted to say thanks for a great mkt 358 class. It was truly one of the classes I looked forward to going to this quarter. I learned a lot from the lectures, the cold call and the sales presentation. I feel as though I am a little more prepared having this business sales background in my head for my internship this summer. Again, thanks for your class and time I appreciate it. Thanks, Megan

Just wanted to say thanks for teaching such a great class. Initially, I was nervous to take it, but I ended up loving it and thought it was a great experience. I definitely had the most fun and learned the most in this class out of any that I have taken so far at OU. Jessie

I just wanted to share some good news with you. Last night I had a Mary Kay party with a couple of girls at my apartment and my sales were over $300. I know it's nothing to brag about, but it has been my highest skin care class in sales since I started as a Mary Kay Consultant. I think I could do this whole personal sales as a career in my future. The money in my hand felt so good. Sarah

I just wanted to email you to tell you that your class was extremely helpful to me and is one of the few classes I've taken that I've applied in everyday life. I say this because I had a internship interview a couple weeks ago at SBC Advertising and to help prepare I went over some of the things that we talked about in class.

The interview went really well and I found out last weekend that I got the internship for this summer. There is no way I would have been as well prepared and known what to expect if I hadn't taken your class. A lot of the little things helped me out like the rules of 10, making small talk, and even some SPIN questions to see what they would be looking for in an intern. So I just wanted to let you know that the information you taught us is very useful and effective. Thanks a lot and have a great quarter. Mike
